About Us
Little Red Cars are a music + storytelling duo: singer/storyteller CAT WEATHERILL and singer/guitarist IAN COOKE. Formed in 2025, their first show is Kathy’s Song: A Celebration of the Music of Simon & Garfunkel. They are more than a tribute act. Together they perform the songs of Simon & Garfunkel (completely live) but in-between the songs Cat tells the story of Kathy Chitty, a quiet Essex girl who was Paul Simon’s girlfriend and muse when he lived in London in the late 1960s. The storytelling is rich and deep, bringing the songs to life in a completely different way.
Cat writes…
‘Formed in 2025…?’ No…. re-formed is truer! Ian and I first worked together as a songwriting/performing team in the 90s. As The Tutus, we were feted in London, played Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts, recorded in iconic studio The Town House with a twelve-piece orchestra and legendary record producer Tony Visconti at the mixing desk, flew to New York for more recording with Tony… It was a dream come true.
But as the Millennium arrived, our creative paths took us in different directions. Ian focussed on music, stepping forward as a solo singer and reaching new heights as a recording artist and composer. I moved into storytelling and writing. The friendship remained, and Ian was behind the lens for many of my fabulous publicity shots as a redhead! But except for one rural tour, we weren’t collaborating musically.
And then Destiny re-appeared in our lives.
One night in late 2024, I went to see Ian performing a solo show. It was an intimate show, with a warm conversational vibe between him and the audience. Midway through, as he was about to sing a couple of Simon & Garfunkel classics, Ian mentioned that his previous singing partner was in the audience. We hadn’t sung together for the best part of twenty years, but would they like me to come up on stage and sing for them? YES! came the reply.
That was when this fabulous new creative adventure began. As soon as we began to sing together, I got goosebumps. The words were still there; the harmonies were still there. I remember thinking: ‘We sound amazing together.’ And how utterly joyous it felt to be singing again after twenty years of storytelling.
The audience loved it. It wasn’t just the music – sharing our backstory made it something very special. Suddenly they were part of our lives, sharing a magical moment that was happening right now, totally unplanned.
The next day, Ian and I were on the phone for hours. Could we… should we…? Yes yes YES! I began researching Simon and Garfunkel, started writing a script and Kathy’s Song was born.
I have never forgotten that moment when the audience became part of our musical story. That is part of our ethos now as Little Red Cars. As we see it, we don’t just sing to the audience. Together we go on a musical journey, exploring the emotional landscape behind these well-loved songs. Our audiences bring their memories, both personal and musical, and those memories shape the telling. It is not our story, it is not just Kathy, Paul and Art’s story, it is their story too.

Future plans
Our aim for 2026 is to get a fabulous agent who can get us land and sea bookings. We really want to do main stage on the cruise ships. Saga especially would be a PERFECT fit for Kathy’s Song.
We are also working on our second show ALMOST HEAVEN, which tells the story of John Denver. He is a surprising character. Despite his wholesome image, he struggled with alcoholism and relationships. But the songs are glorious: Leaving On A Jet Plane, Annie’s Song, Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home Country Roads… We can’t wait to get this new show in front of an audience.
A Challenge…
Although we are both massively experienced performers, we are essentially a brand new act with a brand new show. This is a challenge! We don’t have the social media that is expected these days, and it becomes a bit chicken-and-egg… Without the bookings, we don’t have much we can put on our Facebook page… which makes us look like we aren’t doing anything. AAAARGH! It will come in time.
