Kathy’s Song: A Celebration of Simon and Garfunkel

Kathy’s Song is a music & storytelling show with two performers: storyteller/singer Cat Weatherill and singer/guitarist Ian Cooke. Together they perform all the hits of Simon & Garfunkel (14 songs, completely live) and, in-between the songs, Cat tells the story of Kathy Chitty, a quiet Essex girl who was Paul Simon’s girlfriend and muse when he lived in London in the late Sixties. The show follows their romance as Paul deals with unexpected fame and fortune.

The show was launched in Autumn 2025 with Live & Local and has proved to be a total winner, with thunderous applause and standing ovations. The songs are irresistible and evocative: the soundtrack to so many people’s lives. The show makes audiences very nostalgic and talkative, keen to share stories and memories with each other at the interval and end.

The storytelling works extremely well. People generally come for the music and don’t quite know what to expect from the storytelling. They’re not expecting to be drawn in as deep as they are, so it comes as a real surprise when they find themselves loving it! It’s a very human show. Kathy’s story, when told by Cat, is genuinely moving, and the backstory makes the songs come alive in a completely different way. It’s not a tribute act – it’s much deeper and richer than that. More magical. A shared celebration of other times and a glorious music legacy.

The show was written by Cat, who is also a best-selling novelist.

Audiences are encouraged to sing along, especially in the second half. ‘Cecilia’ is always a roof-raising highlight!
