The book’s greatest achievement is Finn. This irredeemable villain is fleshed out with such detail that readers will not be able to decide if he is good or evil – Booklist

Good day! I like your book because its about transformation and foxes.
But I slightly disappointed that Jacob did not even tried to change back another Hamelin’ children. For example, Mari know where Lise are.
And. if Mari can speak and walk free in Elvendale (she even steals chickens), why she did not ask for help from /another/ elves? She can see they use magic everyday, and they are good – so why not to try? Why not to try ask for help after all done – Marianna is human, Finn is free from the curse and they are left Whispering Forest? They run to human lands too fast. You definitely have to give some better explanations to that loose ends.

  5. Cat says:

    Hi Dimitry!

That’s a good point about Mari – why didn’t she ask the elves for help? Thinking about it now, I suppose she decided elves were not as friendly as they appeared. Look how quickly Finn had changed from being charming to cold and deadly… Maybe she was worried that the next elf would turn her into something worse, like a toad :-)

And you’re quite right about the children of Hamelin – they are a loose end. But a writer has to leave some loose ends so the adventure can continue into the next book. If I ever write a sequel to Wild Magic, Jakob will go in search of the lost children – I promise!

hey cat you came to our school one time it was kingsthorpe college i’ve read all your books they were amazing :) . Are you writeing anymore amzing story.
And 1 last question just wandering how much is it to get your book publishes because i just finsed a very long story :)

  7. stephen rudd says:

I wish I was turned into a fox that would be great. but barkbelly and snowbone made me laugh :)

  8. Cat says:

    Hi Stephen

SO happy you love the books. I remember Kingsthorpe very well! Great fun.

If a book is good, it doesn’t cost anything to have it published! It can be hard finding someone to take it on though. You can publish it yourself… At one time, you had to have hundreds of copies printed and that cost hundreds of pounds, but now – with digital printing – it’s possible just to get a few copies done. Try Googling ‘self publishing’ and see what you come up with. And send me a copy when it’s done!!

The first time I looked at it, I read it. lOVED IT. I am working on my own book. I love reading, and my god when I finished reading Wild Magic, I spent nearly two hours searching online whether there was a sequel. There wasn’t. So far I have read it nearly 13 times. ( I’m taking note how many times I have read it )

    My favorite books:
    1) Wild Magic by Cat Weatherill
    2) Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan (spelling?)
    3) So basically, I like the series about Gods and Magic….. Example: The Lost Hero, The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, The Son of Neptune. They are all books by Rick. =)

You might be wondering how old I am. Probably in teens or twenties, yes? No, actually I am just a 12 year old with a dream of becoming an author.

Thanks for writing Wild Magic, I hope you will write the sequel,

    Fatima
    age 12
